One house,
from insight
to screen

Most work of this kind gets split across a research firm, an agency and a production house — and loses something at every handover. Emika is built to hold all three in one room.

We are a producer based in Colombo, working across film, television, advertising and media. The same team that sits with the data sits in the edit. A campaign idea is pressure-tested against what audiences actually do, then made by the people who argued for it.

That approach carried us into feature film. In January 2026 we released Father — a gangster drama drawn from real events in Sri Lanka between 1976 and 1991, directed by Chaminda Jayasuriya and produced by Dr. Shantha Geethadeva. It passed LKR 100 million in 17 days and LKR 250 million worldwide in 25.

  • 01

    Evidence before craft

Research and strategy come first, so the creative has somewhere to stand.

  • 02

    Built for the long form

A 30-second spot and a 116-minute feature are made by the same discipline.

  • 03

    Made to be seen

Media planning is part of the brief, not an afterthought once the film is cut.

What we do

Five disciplines,
one brief

Film & video production

Feature films, music videos, documentaries and live capture — the craft behind Father and the Swarale concert sessions.

  • Feature development & production

  • Post-production and delivery

Media planning

Deciding where the work runs and how often, so the spend behind it is answerable rather than assumed.

The feature

Father ෆාදර් · The Judgement is Inconclusive

Based on a series of true events surrounding the gangster Gampaha Osmond, between 1976 and 1991.

Set in the Gampaha district during a turbulent era of political upheaval, Father follows Desmond Gunasekara — a deeply religious young man from an ordinary family, preparing to leave his village for police training.

His life turns on a single act of violence. Provoked by a thug working for the local gang leader Gnane, Desmond strikes back, and the prison sentence that follows strips away the quiet future he had planned. Released and permanently marked, he is hunted by a gang boss who cannot afford a rival — and then by the state itself, once Gnane's political patron turns police power against him.

Desmond survives by becoming the thing he was running from. He kills Gnane and flees to Japan; the retaliation falls instead on the families left behind, and on his only brother. The film ends not in triumph but in a sober account of how unchecked power consumes everyone in its path.
